Taste Test

Show your dog you love him. Take two clean bowls. Place your regular dog food in one bowl and the Flint River Ranch in the other and watch what happens. Your dog will talk to you!

From Our Files

A new customer did not believe our claim about how BHA, BHT, and Ethoxyquin (found in many commercial dog foods) were used in the various industries as fertilizers, rubber stabilizers, preservatives, and pesticides. While she agreed that we had a great product, she wasn't convinced about the effects of these chemical preservatives.

She took a sample of her current brand of cat food, a popular brand that describes itself as tasty, wholesome, and natural, but with chemical preservatives. She placed the sample of this brand and a sample of Flint River Ranch Cat Food in shallow saucers next to each other in the grass and walked away.

She came back some time later to find that ants had swarmed all over the Flint River Ranch Cat Food, while none were in her—now former—brand. She deduced that, given the amount of chemicals in her old brand, they acted not only as a preservative but were sufficient in strength to keep out the bugs. She is now a loyal Flint River Ranch customer.

Ants don't know about "all natural" labels, but they do recognize harmful chemicals.

Bloat Test

In a bowl place 1/4 cup Flint River oven-baked dog food. In a second bowl place an equal amount of any other dry dog food. Add warm water to both bowls, cover, and shake. Keep the food covered by adding water as needed. At the end of the day you will find the Flint River dog food has broken down and not expanded. Depending on the second food brand it may have expanded 2-3 times times its original size. Professionals believe that food that expands can cause a serious bloat problem in your dog's stomach.
